Description

Historic documents kept at Drayton Hall reveal details about the complex roles taken on by enslaved women: skilled workers, mothers, caretakers, and agents of change and resistance. In this webinar, curator Amber Satterthwaite explores the stories of women who appeared in records such as journals and inventories and how documents created within a system of exploitation still offer insights into their lives and experiences. Thorough interpretation of these records illuminates the endurance and strength of women enslaved at Drayton Hall and other plantations. This is a Donate What You Can Event presented by Drayton Hall Preservation Trust. If you are not able to watch at the broadcast time, register as usual on the Eventbrite event page and the link to watch the event at your leisure will be emailed to you the following day.
