Lowcountry Artists Gallery is pleased to present: “Wandering Waters”, a collection of original oil paintings by Betsy Jones McDonald celebrating the beauty, movement, and atmosphere of the coastal South.

“Wandering Waters” invites viewers into McDonald’s impressionistic world of marshes, waterways, shifting skies, and coastal landscapes. Through expressive brushwork, rich color, and luminous light, her paintings capture the ever-changing character of the Lowcountry and the quiet beauty found along its waterways.

Betsy Jones McDonald is a Charleston-based oil painter whose work celebrates the beauty, light, color, and character of the Lowcountry. Her paintings reflect a deep connection to coastal landscapes and the ever-changing waters, marshes, skies, and people that define the region. McDonald’s work is inspired by the places and people of the coast, translating familiar Lowcountry scenes into paintings that are both atmospheric and deeply personal. Each original oil painting offers a moment to pause, wander, and experience the landscape’s  color and movement.

“Wandering Waters is about the way water carries light, color, and movement” says McDonald. “These paintings are my way of capturing those fleeting moments and inviting the viewer to contemplate them with me.”
