About Townfall:

South Carolina's towns and cities are facing a growing fiscal crisis. Some are nearing bankruptcy, while others can no longer afford police departments.

Townfall is The Post and Courier's groundbreaking project exposing these challenges, holding local leaders accountable and identifying solutions. Its first-of-its-kind “accountability desert” map highlights communities at greater risk of misconduct because fewer people are watching.

Through investigative reporting and data, Townfall exposes systemic problems and points toward healthier, more transparent communities.
