Join The King's Counterpoint Chamber Ensemble VOX REGIS for an exploration of the incredible sacred music of Tudor England!
The church of the late 15th & 16th centuries was undergoing dramatic changes, not only in doctrine and structure, but musically as well. Nowhere was this musical turmoil more apparent than in the Tudor court, where we find sacred music that is incredibly varied & beautiful, ranging from large, elaborate Latin motets & masses by composers like Tallis, Taverner, & Byrd to the simple, lovely English anthems driven by the dictates of the Reformation.
Featuring works from a variety of sources throughout the period - including The Eton Choirbook, one of very few 15th-century collections of Latin liturgical music to survive the Reformation, and The Royal Choirbook, a collection of motets produced in 1516 for Henry VIII & Catherine of Aragon - this is a concert you really won't want to miss!
