Chamber Music Charleston's final concert of the season at South Carolina Society Hall focuses on the quintessential chamber music ensemble: the string quartet. We open with Beethoven’s String Quartet Opus 18 No 4, a dark and dramatic work that showcases the composer’s early mastery of the form. The program concludes with Tchaikovsky’s D Major String Quartet, a lyrical and emotionally rich work that includes the famous “Andante cantabile,” beloved for its tender, song-like beauty. Violinist Anthea Kreston, formerly of the Artemis Quartet, joins Chamber Music Charleston’s violinist Jenny Weiss, violist Ben Weiss, and cellist Timothy O’Malley for this program.
