Charleston Crafts Gallery, an artist-owned cooperative in the heart of downtown Charleston, is pleased to present its February exhibition, Roses Are Red, which opens with a public reception on Friday, February 6, from 5pm to 8pm.
Roses Are Red invites visitors to consider love in its many forms—romantic and platonic, familial, personal, and creative. Featuring original work by the gallery’s member artists, the exhibition showcases a diverse range of fine craft and art, reflecting the individuality and creative voices of the cooperative.
Featured artists include:
Lynne Gettelfinger—a fiber artist who creates art quilts, art-to-wear, and one-of-a-kind home décor pieces.
Nancy Warren—a fiber artist who designs handwoven, hand-dyed scarves, table linens, hand towels, and fiber jewelry.
Selma Andrews—a mixed media artist who makes jewelry using handmade polymer clay beads and objects gathered during her travels.
Amanda Mazza of Soapfully Yours—a maker who focuses on all-natural, handmade soaps and emphasizes simplicity, sustainability, and sensory experience.
The opening reception takes place during the Charleston ArtWalk, the city’s monthly evening dedicated to the visual arts. Visitors are encouraged to include Charleston Crafts Gallery as part of their ArtWalk experience while exploring the many galleries and creative spaces that downtown Charleston offers.
