Description Join the Chamber and Charleston Habitat for Humanity on a Mount Pleasant construction site, and step into an experience that is equal parts meaningful, collaborative, and fun. No prior construction experience is required-our skilled staff and crew leaders will provide all the training, tools, and safety equipment you'll need. A typical build day begins with a safety briefing and an overview of the day's tasks. Depending on the stage of construction, you might help with framing, installing siding, painting, landscaping, or other hands-on projects that bring a home closer to completion. Throughout the day, you'll work alongside future Habitat homeowners, staff, and fellow volunteers. This is one of the most rewarding parts of the experience-knowing the work you put in has a direct impact on helping a family achieve affordable homeownership. We encourage volunteers to wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty, closed-toe shoes, and to bring water and sunscreen. At the end of the day, you'll leave with new skills, a sense of accomplishment, and the knowledge that you played a part in building strength, stability, and independence through shelter.
