Description

The Town of Mount Pleasant is pleased to partner with the Charleston County Public Library to present Mount Pleasant Remembers: A Community Oral History Project.

Mount Pleasant Remembers is dedicated to preserving the voices, memories, and community histories of Mount Pleasant through oral history, intergenerational storytelling, and public memory initiatives. Community members are invited to share memories, family histories, and personal stories connected to Mount Pleasant and its communities.

The first Oral History Day will be held at the Wando Mount Pleasant Library on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 10:00 AM–3:00 PM. Participants will have the opportunity to record oral histories in sessions of up to 30 minutes.

Stories may include family traditions, neighborhoods, schools, churches, work, celebrations, changes in the community, recreation, or everyday life. Even brief memories and reflections help preserve the history of Mount Pleasant through the voices and experiences of those who have lived within the community across generations.

Participants may choose whether they would like their recording preserved in the Mount Pleasant History Room to support future historical research, education, exhibitions, and community storytelling initiatives.

Walk-ups are welcome. For additional questions, please contact Georgette Rivera at grivera@tompsc.com .
