This is an audio/video presentation as I discuss the Life and achievements of my great-grandfather Joseph Hayne Rainey, our country's first duly-elected Black Congressman. Born enslaved in 1832 on a rice plantation just outside Georgetown, in December 1870 he took his seat in the House of Representatives. Join me as I explore the journey of this social and political pioneer. Q&A with book sales/signings will take place immediately after.
