Event Details As the Revolutionary War raged, music was the soundtrack. Ballads rang out in taverns, gospel music swelled from plantations and Native American's flutes consoled displaced communities. On June 20, 2026 at 4pm and 7:30pm the Sullivan's Island Club will present two free concerts of music of our cultural heritage performed by preeminent musicians in their genre: Carol Mallett Rifkin and Friends Appalachian Trio, Delia Chariker and Keepers of the Word with the Bright Family and Singers. The performances will be woven together by one of Charleston's most well known singer/storytellers: Ann Caldwell. The venue for the concerts, Sunrise Church, has a view of where the Battle of Sullivan's Island was fought. It is where the Catawbas fought alongside the Patriots, and provides an opportunity to highlight that often overlooked history. The concerts are free but seating is limited.
