Charleston-based classical realist painter Jill Hooper presents Installation of Curiosities, a rare and immersive exhibition of oil paintings and charcoal drawings at Wentworth. The installation brings together works of varying scale displayed in dense, salon-style arrangements across walls, shelves, and tables, creating an environment that blurs the boundary between artwork and the objects that inspire it.
Working exclusively from life and natural light, Hooper employs traditional atelier techniques, including sight-size observation and hand-mixed pigments, reflecting years of study in Florence and France under masters of contemporary realism.
