Charleston, SC — Charleston Crafts Gallery, an artist-owned cooperative in the heart of downtown Charleston, is pleased to present its March exhibition, Miniatures, which opens with a public reception on Friday, March 6, from 5pm to 8pm.
Miniatures explores how working at a reduced scale can amplify impact. Smaller works invite artists to distill their practice to its most essential elements—form, texture, color, surface, and detail—resulting in pieces that feel intentional and refined.
Featuring original work by the gallery’s member artists, the exhibition showcases a diverse range of fine craft and art, reflecting the individuality and creative voices of the cooperative. Featured artists include:
Anne John—a ceramic artist creating wheel-thrown functional pottery with refined forms and expressive glaze surfaces.
Robin Hippel—a ceramic artist creating functional wheel-thrown and hand-built pottery with refined forms and textured details.
Sarah Mitchell of Wooly Wildlife—a fiber artist creating lifelike, needle-felted animal sculptures inspired by the natural world.
Susan Livingston—a fiber artist producing hand-dyed textiles, wearable art, and mixed-media fiber collages.
Lynne Gettelfinger—a fiber artist who creates art quilts, art-to-wear, and one-of-a-kind home décor pieces.
Thia Beniash of Sunny Creek Designs—a polymer clay artist crafting layered, hand-built miniature wall art.
Amanda Mazza of Soapfully Yours—a maker of all-natural, handmade soaps created with traditional methods and natural ingredients.
The opening reception takes place during the Charleston ArtWalk, the city’s monthly evening dedicated to the visual arts. Visitors are encouraged to include Charleston Crafts Gallery as part of their ArtWalk experience while exploring the many galleries and creative spaces that downtown Charleston offers.
