Description

Join Lowcountry Land Trust for our annual family-friendly oyster roast on Sunday, January 11, 2026! We invite you to join us for an afternoon on Gold Bug Island enjoying marsh views, shucking fresh local oysters, and socializing with other conservation-minded locals.

Each ticket also includes homemade chili, soup, salad, cornbread, dessert, hot drinks, alcoholic beverages (including local beer from Low Tide Brewing) and live music from Dallas Baker & Friends. For children, hot dogs, non-alcoholic beverages, and a variety of activities will be provided.

Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in a raffle to win Lowcountry-inspired items from local businesses. Each raffle ticket purchase will fuel Lowcountry Land Trust's mission.

Date: Sunday, January 11, 2026

Time: 2 - 5 pm

Location: Gold Bug Island, 1560 Ben Sawyer Blvd, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464

In 1996, Lowcountry Land Trust permanently protected Gold Bug Island by placing a conservation easement on the 29-acre parcel of both highlands and wetlands. Named after the short story by Edgar Allen Poe, Gold Bug Island sits between Mount Pleasant and Sullivans along Ben Sawyer Blvd and is owned by the East Cooper Outboard Motor Club.

Oysters are a vital part of our coastal ecosystem. Thanks to a partnership with SCDNR, all oyster shells from this event will be recycled and returned to the environment to support oyster reef growth in our Lowcountry waterways.
