Artist Statement
Eternal Theater is a series of paintings about performance as a double-edged gesture: a way of hiding and a way of being known. A form of escape and a search for meaning. Created over the last six months, these paintings explore the space between seeing and being seen, concealment and revelation, the backstage and the stage. The work draws from American art history while connecting personal struggles to collective ones. The old American way of life has shed its skin and put on a costume. We keep performing it anyway. This show is about that tension. The beauty and the horror of the constant escapism required to be alive today. But Eternal Theater is also about love. Love as the only antidote. Art as a way to make sense of it all. A way to stay present. A way to keep looking.
